Hexagons have six sides, and cubes have six faces- so it’s not surprising to find the close geometric link between the two which is illustrated in this animation. Note how each hexagon touches all six of the cube’s faces, and half of all its edges. What other shapes can you fit nicely in a cube? [more] [code] [another]
That question is much more complicated than it looks. Took me 5 minutes to work out the two values of x and omg it was so much fun :D
